NEW YORK / CROATIA
Our journey begins as we depart New York’s JFK Airport on our connecting flight to Croatia. Meals are served on our transatlantic flight.
April 19, 2022 – Tuesday
DUBROVNIK
Today we arrive in medieval Dubrovnik, Croatia and are met by our Pilgrimage Tours’ tour director. We enjoy a motor coach tour of this “Jewel of the Adriatic” prior to arriving at our hotel for check-in. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.
April 20, 2022 – Wednesday
DUBROVNIK / KOTOR
This morning we drive to Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor for a visit to the port town of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we enjoy a sightseeing tour with our local guide. We will visit and celebrate Mass at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rocks on Perast Island. Later in the afternoon, we return to Dubrovnik for dinner and overnight.
April 21, 2022 – Thursday
DUBROVNIK
Today we enjoy a full day in Dubrovnik, considered to be the most beautiful medieval city on the Mediterranean Sea with a history dating back to the 7th century. The Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw once said, “those who seek paradise on earth should come to Dubrovnik”. We meet our local guide and enjoy a walking tour of the old town, including a visit to the Rectors Palace located inside the ancient walls. We will enjoy free time for lunch and personal exploration of the local bazaars. Dinner and overnight in Dubrovnik.
April 22, 2022 – Friday
DUBROVNIK / MOSTAR / SARAJEVO
This morning we depart the coast and cross the border into Bosnia Herzegovina, through the gorge of the River Neretva to our stop at Mostar where we can walk across the famous Stari Most (old bridge), which was reconstructed after suffering severe damage during the war. We continue on to Sarajevo where we arrive at our hotel for dinner and overnight.
April 23, 2022 – Saturday
SARAJEVO / MEDJUGORJE
Today we awake in Sarajevo, where a number of diverse events have cemented Sarajevo’s place in history, including most notably the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914 which sparked World War I, the 1984 Winter Olympics, and the longest post-World War II siege during the Balkans War of the 1990’s. Often referred to as the “Jerusalem of Europe”, because of the presence and tolerance of diverse faiths, the city is nestled in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains. We meet our local tour guide and walk through the Bascarsija where the city was founded in the 15th century, today serving as Sarajevo’s historical market place and cultural center. We will also see Gazi Musrev-beg Mosque and the Olympic Stadium before visiting the War Tunnel Museum that was the city’s lifeline during the siege of Sarajevo. Following free time for lunch and shopping, we depart on our drive to Medjugorje. Upon our arrival, we will visit and celebrate Mass in one of the local churches prior to arriving at our hotel for check-in. Dinner and overnight in Medjugorje.
April 24, 2022 – Sunday
MEDJUGORJE
Today we enjoy our entire day at the Sanctuary beginning with a visit and celebration of Mass at Saint James Church. Following Mass, we will ascend Apparitions Hill (Podbrdo) where on June 24, 1981, Our Lady Queen of Peace first appeared to the six young children. Those who wish to, may climb to the top of Cross Mountain (Krizevak) where the children say that Mary prays at the cross every day. We will also visit the Franciscan Monastery at Siroki Brieg to attend talks and healing services with the local residents. We also enjoy free time for exploration, personal prayer, confessions and reciting the Rosary. Dinner and overnight in Medjugorje.
April 25, 2022 – Monday
MEDJUGORJE / SPLIT
This morning we will drive to Split, where we meet our local guide for a walking tour through the historic inner city built around Emperor Diocletian’s 4th century palace, a well-preserved fortress and a living part of the old town. Split’s Roman heritage is very evident at Peristyle Square on the grounds of Diocletian’s Palace. During our tour we will visit the Temple of Jupiter. The remainder of our day is free for personal exploration. Dinner and overnight in Split.
April 26, 2022 – Tuesday
SPLIT / HVAR ISLAND CRUISE
Today we enjoy a day-trip to Hvar Island, known as the “Island of Lavender”. Here we will see the nearby Pakleni Islands and admire Hvar’s picturesque harbor at the foot of the stunning Fortica Fortress, sitting high above the town. We enjoy a walking tour of this memorable town and learn about the heritage and history of the entire island. There will be free time to explore the town at your leisure before we continue on our Adriatic Sea cruise, including a stop on the island of Brac where we will visit the seaside village of Milna. Later in the afternoon we resume our cruise and our return to Split. Dinner and overnight in Split.
April 27, 2022 – Wednesday
SPLIT / PLITVICE LAKES
This morning we journey north to Plitvice Lakes National Park, a place of great natural beauty and granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Within the boundaries of the park there are 16 crystalline lakes that tumble into each other through a series of waterfalls and cascades. Here we enjoy a walking tour through the park, absorbing the natural beauty of the lakes, waterfalls and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight inside Plitvice Lakes National Park.
April 28, 2022 – Thursday
PLITVICE LAKES / LJUBLJANA
Today we drive to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Here we enjoy a half-day city tour where we will see the town’s beautiful bridges, Preseren and Congress Square, City Hall, Parliament and the Robba Fountain. We will also visit and celebrate Mass at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. Dinner and overnight in Ljubljana.
April 29, 2022 – Friday
LJUBLJANA / ZAGREB
This morning we drive to Croatia’s capital city of Zagreb. Prior to arriving in Zagreb, we stop for a visit and celebration of Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Marija Bistrica and see the miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary. Following Mass, we arrive in Zagreb where we enjoy a motor coach and walking tour of this beautiful city. This evening we gather for our “farewell dinner” at a local restaurant. Overnight in Zagreb.
April 30, 2022 – Saturday
ZAGREB / NEW YORK
Following breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our return flight home. Though our pilgrimage has come to an end, the blessings of our encounters with the Lord, Our Lady, and the saints are certain to strengthen and encourage us throughout our lifelong pilgrimage.
